I wish the top case interior light, when you open the top case, would go on even if the bike is not on. I come into a dark garage and it would be nice if I could go straight to my top case and put stuff in it before turning on the bike.

They granted my wish of remember the fog light settings after the bike has been turned off.

Good dream! Alas, the trunk light is on a computer-controlled delayed accessory circuit, so it is turned off when the rest of the accessory power is turned off. Unless I'm mistaken and it has a dedicated circuit to the computer, unlike the aux light firmware fix, the trunk light would require hard wiring changes to provide an on-demand trunk light. :(

Been wondering about this myself.

If the top case light is on with aux power, does that mean that the light is on all of the time? No "box open" sensor?

I've considered looking to see if a simple mercury switch could be added and then the light moved from aux power to battery power.

So, it would work like it should.

That would be similar to how the K12LT's trunk was wired, IIRC.

Also something to keep in mind with the K16 trunk light: If you install a Skene trunk brake light/running light module, the flicker in the running light will be visible in the trunk light -- the lights share a common ground, and apparently Skene generates the flicker by controlling the ground path.

The interior trunk light is on a circuit that requires the ignition to be on and the trunk open. The exception is that it will stay on for 40 seconds after the ignition is turned off. This is why when people use the trunk wire as a trigger the item does not shut off for 40 seconds.
